Tendonitis

Tendonitis refers to pain and dysfunction in a tendon—the strong connective tissue that attaches muscle to bone. It commonly affects the Achilles, patellar tendon, elbow, shoulder, and other high-load areas in athletes and active people.

While tendon pain is often labeled as inflammation, many chronic cases are actually tendinopathy—a condition where repeated overload causes micro-damage and poor tissue healing. Because tendons have limited blood supply, they can struggle to repair on their own, leading to recurring pain with training.

Common symptoms include:

  • Pain during or after activity

  • Stiffness, especially after rest

  • Repeated flare-ups when training increases

How Shockwave Therapy Treats Tendonitis

At CT Sports Recovery, we use focused shockwave therapy to treat tendonitis at its root—not just manage symptoms.

Focused shockwave therapy works by:

  • Increasing blood flow to damaged tendon tissue

  • Stimulating collagen repair and tissue remodeling

  • Reducing pain by calming overactive nerve signals

  • Improving the tendon’s ability to tolerate load

This approach helps athletes heal the tendon rather than rely on repeated rest, injections, or medications.

What to Expect

  • Treatments take 15–20 minutes

  • Non-invasive with no injections or downtime

  • Most athletes continue training with guidance

  • Each tendon or side is treated and charged separately

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Most athletes need 3–6 treatments per side, depending on:

  • Duration of symptoms

  • Severity of tendon damage

  • Sport and training demands

Typical investment:
$550–$1,100 per side

Why Shockwave Therapy Is Worth It

Focused shockwave therapy has strong clinical support for treating chronic tendon pain and helping athletes return to activity with less risk of recurrence. It can reduce the need for injections or surgery and support long-term tendon health.

Our pricing is below typical focused shockwave therapy rates. We’ve worked intentionally to keep advanced recovery care accessible, because athletes at every level deserve effective, evidence-based treatment.

Treat the Cause. Not Just the Pain.

If tendon pain is limiting your training or performance, shockwave therapy may be the next step toward lasting recovery.
